The Questions Emerge today May Be Answered Tomorrow!
The Women's Reservation Bill

By Balbir Singh Sooch, Advocate, Ludhiana

Whether MPs of Congress and BJP committed to pass the Women's Reservation Bill, having brutal majority together? It was being doubted since long and finally, they may prove it as true and beyond any doubt left hereafter, in case the Bill do not pass now in this session of the Parliament.

Was the statement of BJP Leadership, “ .....The government has to decide as to what extent it is determined to pass it (the Bill)” a pointer that UPA should seek support of BJP openly like the government of P.V. Narasimha Rao to complete its term and isolate the minorities leadership ? Onus was shifted to UPA to answer rather on PM and Sonia Gandhi?

It was being said misleadinly under the stretgey that the government never approached BJP or any other parties for support to pass the Bill.

It is well known to all about P.V. Narasimha Rao especially and closely to PM Manmohan Singh and worth to quote here as under:

“Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao, who was commonly known as P. V. Narasimha Rao, served as the 12th Prime Minister of the Republic of India.  He was also commonly referred to as the Chanakya of modern India for his ability to steer tough economic and political legislation through the parliament at a time when he headed a minority government. His years as Prime Minister also saw the emergence of the Bharatiya Janata Party, a major right-wing party, as an alternative to the Indian National Congress which had been governing India for most of its post-independence history. Chanakya:   Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao (P. V. Narasimha Rao) emerged the Bharatiya Janata Party, a major right-wing party, as an alternative to the Indian National Congress. Rao's term also saw the destruction of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya which triggered one of the worst Hindu-Muslim riots in the country since its independence.”

Was now Congress ready to take assurance from BJP for direct support to remain in power like P.V. Narasimha Rao as Samajwadi Party and RJD alleged to have declared and withdrawn support to the UPA government? Congress must be having already such assurance from BJP who was always ready and willing voluntarily to do so against the minorities and its leadership.

The answer may be ‘Yes’ as it was also predicted and said by the prominent journalist Prabhu Chawla openly that the government of PM Manmohan Singh shall complete its full term without any problem.

Then why Congress should not seek the support of BJP to pass the Bill, if, it was really in favour of getting through the Bill? The strategically Congress and BJP are united though not publicly and the minorities and their leadership will be at the receiving end.

The Women's Reservation Bill is very likely to be passed tomorrow. PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi were well prepared stratigically for the purpose having hands in glove with BJP.

The leadership of the minorities shall be isolated and pitched against Women for not supporting the Women's Reservation Bill for ever.

Was the Bill tabled in Rajya Sabha only to expose the leadership of minorities who openly admit rather confess that they have no qualified women in their parties to contest MPs election?

Thus the minorities leadership, intentionally and deliberately, opposing the Bill and do not want to lose their male seats in Lok Sabha. The situation is also not likely to change in future in their case. So, they will never support the Women's Reservation Bill.

As already said, BJP being a major right-wing party was always ready and willing to isolate the leadership of minorities to teach them a lesson as the prominent journalist Prabhu Chawla also suggested the same to Congress and BJP.  But, Congress is double minded under the garb of secularism and do not like to expose the cultural cover so openly against the minorities and their leadership.
