Ex servicemen hail improved pension
Ex-servicemen hail improved pension
PunjabNewsline.com - Ex servicemen hail improved pension

‘One rank, one pension’ for officers, too -The decision is now nearer to the goal of “one rank, one pension” demand of nearly 1.5 million personnel, Defence Minister A K Antony said during question hour.

Now, pensioners stand divided in   two categories, one set of category of pensioners shall receive pre-October, 1997 scale and another set is getting post October 10, 1997 scale and there is no parity between pension drawing pre and post October 10, 1997.

“With regard to the separate pay commission, the minister said it had been agreed, and as and when necessary it would be set up in the future” and “after considering all aspects of the issue, the committee made several recommendations to substantially improve pensionary benefits of Personnel Below Officer Rank and Commissioned Officers, which have been accepted by the government," the minister added.

But, the language used, “the committee made several recommendations and the separate pay commission, the minister said it had been agreed, and as and when necessary it would be set up in the future” is vague and also there is no time bound promise and must be said with much more clarity without any ambiguity to build further confidence in the present government within its 100 days.
