Rahul Gandhi’s Expressed Feelings Deserve No Criticism under Indian System
- By Balbir Singh Sooch-Sikh Vichar Manch

1. The Child like Rahul Gandhi who faced two assassinations of his the closest relations, father Rajiv Gandhi and grandmother Indira Gandhi and also saw Mr. Prabhakaran on TV lying dead and felt…, though he missed, knowingly or unknowingly, to say any human words about Sikhs, Sikh families, kids killed or survived as victims as result of ‘Genocide of Sikhs’ in June and November 1984 under the intoxication of political power enjoying from his childhood itself.

2. Rahul Gandhi as major now must be realizing in real sense that any senseless violence by state repression, state actors or non-state actors is always bad and inhuman and compel or invite for emotional hasty-unthinking reaction, but not deliberate reaction in any manner.

3. To find difference between deliberate action and then reaction to it and conversely-the other way around or equally on the contrary or in opposition to it, we must have patience and maturity to differentiate and judge the difference.

4. To my mind and as also adjudged while in Jail at Ludhiana, leaving aside my story, the non-state actors and common prisoners due to their result of violence and crime like of murders etc for the reasons of emotional hasty-unthinking reactions are in Jail, but their offence in all cases cannot be called deliberate reaction in any manner.

5. Such prisoners are suffering and their families and kids must also be suffering endlessly or may have been impelled for indulging themselves in more crimes and inhuman acts proving permanently dangerous for the society.

6. In view of the above, I was always thinking while I was in Jail Ludhiana that there is no mechanism available to differentiate and judge between the deliberate action and then reaction to it and conversely-the other way around or equally on the contrary or in opposition to it due to lack of tolerance, patience and maturity in our society as a whole and or the governing system is totally faulty and polluted. I am helpless and answerless so far.

A secret of my childhood even till today may further help to understand the situation:

7. From my childhood, I was very much afraid of violence, let it be from any side as I will not like go in detail in my own family background. Whenever, there was a violence related to my father etc in the village Sandhu Khurd, then District Sangrur now Bathinda, I used to start crying and my mother and elder brothers used to start immediately bothering about me and to secure my safety. My elder brother, Captain (Hony) Jagraj Singh Sooch is also healthy as a witness presently to that my childhood cowardliness.

8. After experiencing my childhood seen violence, I used to be violent and always strongly reacted against the violence irrespectively. My service record is also witness to my reactions. It does not mean I served as a criminal in Indian Air Force. After leaving service, I saw a planned violence as a result of state repression against the warriors who were facing inhuman conditions fighting for freedom against the unjust system.

9. I, without indulging in any kind of violence, thought to write and started projecting and bringing the truth nothing but truth on the surface as a record.

10. Then and even now, sometimes, I was being called Khalistani, sometimes, I was called Comrade, Communist, sometimes, I was Human rightist, sometimes, I was called anti- government. The Indian system and agencies are such that never allow anybody calling himself as a human. In fact, I am same as stated above in ‘A secret of my childhood even till today’.

11. Was as projecting me, sometimes, as Khalistani, sometimes, as Comrade, Communist, sometimes, as ‘Human rightist, sometimes, as anti- government not the result of due to lack of tolerance, patience and maturity in our society and or the governing system is totally faulty and polluted?

12. I personally don’t differ with Rahul Gandhii as he said, “We were very upset and hurt and for many years we were quite angry…” under the faced violence against his two closest members of family assassinated already stated from his childhood.

13. Though he missed, knowingly or unknowingly, to say any human words about Sikhs, Sikh families, kids killed or survived as victims as result of ‘Genocide of Sikhs’ in June and November 1984 under the intoxication of political power enjoying from his childhood itself and or still lacking in level of tolerance, patience and maturity like prevailing in our society and or the governing system is totally faulty and polluted to which he is now also party.

14. In the context of above, I personally nothing more to say or contradict to Rahul Gandhi’s expressed feelings:

(i) Mr. Gandhi, who is on a five-day trip to the Southeast Asian countries, also said: “We knew that my father was going to die. We knew that my grandmother was going to die. In politics, when you mess (disorder) with the wrong forces ( the wrong forces means mistaken- holding an incorrect opinion about a person, thing, or matter) , and if you stand for something, you will die. That’s pretty clear.”

(ii) “I was 14 when my grandmother was assassinated. I used to play badminton with those who killed my grandmother. After that my father was killed. So you live in a particular environment...surrounded by 15 guys from morning noon and night, I don’t thinks that’s a privilege. I think that’s quite a hard thing to deal with,” he said in a video shared by the Congress party on its Twitter handle

(iii) Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by a woman suicide bomber of LTTE, the terrorist group in Sri Lanka led by Prabhakaran, on May 21, 1991 at an election rally in Tamil Nadu.

(iv) “There is a history that when one realises that when these events take place, it’s collision of ideas, forces, and confusion. That’s where you get caught. I remember when I saw Mr. Prabhakaran on TV lying dead, I got two feelings - one was why they are humiliating this man in this way.

(v) “And second was I felt really bad for him and for his kids and I did that because I understood deeply what it meant to be on the other side of that thing. So to me when I see violence regardless of who it is, I know that there is a human being behind that, there is a family behind that, a kid crying behind that. I have been through a lot of pain to get this and it is something I consider very valuable. I find it difficult to hate people, even my sister does,” he said.

(vi) Asked if he thinks he had a privileged life being the son and grandson of former prime ministers, he said, “It depends which side of the coin you are...of course there are a number of privileges where I sit, but I would not say that I haven’t been through a rough ride.”Extracts from News, ‘Rahul Gandhi says he, his sister have ‘completely forgiven’ father’s killers’ by THE HINDU
